The Acropolis Hill and the Ancient Agora (AT 3)

Overview Itinerary Dates & Prices What's Included Accommodation Photos

The Acropolis Hill crowns the city of Athens as a constant reminder of its celebrated past and the uninterrupted inhabitation of the city through the millennia. It dominates the Athenian skyline in a remarkable way and as you climb up the hill the history of the ancient city unfolds before your eyes. The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion known for its six Caryatids, and finally the famous Parthenon will definitely impress you!

The Ancient Agora looks more like a huge garden than an excavation area! In fact it used to be a very busy market place during antiquity and the heart of everyday-life for the Athenians 2,500 years ago.
Its museum is called The Stoa of Attalus and has been reconstructed in modern times. Overlooking this commercial area, on top of the hill, stands the best preserved temple in Greece: The Temple of Hephaestus.
